How to Set Up Facebook Pixel Integration

Last updated: 1/31/2026

Facebook Pixel lets you track conversions from Facebook ads and build custom audiences based on people who visit your review page. Here's how to set it up.

What is Facebook Pixel?

Facebook Pixel is a piece of code that tracks visitor actions on your website or web pages. When you add it to your RatingFlow review page, it tells Facebook when people visit your page, which helps you measure the effectiveness of Facebook advertising, build targeted audiences, and optimize your ad campaigns.

Why Use Facebook Pixel with RatingFlow?

Even if you're not currently running Facebook ads, Facebook Pixel is valuable because:

Build Custom Audiences: You can create a custom audience of people who visited your review page, then run ads specifically to them or exclude them from seeing certain ads.

Track Conversions: If you share your review link through Facebook ads or posts, you can see exactly how many people clicked through and visited your review page.

Optimize Future Campaigns: Facebook learns from pixel data to show your ads to people most likely to take action.

Create Lookalike Audiences: Once you have enough pixel data, Facebook can help you find new customers similar to those who visited your review page.

Creating Your Facebook Pixel

If you don't already have a Facebook Pixel:

Step 1: Go to business.facebook.com and log in to your Facebook Business Manager account. If you don't have a Business Manager account, you'll need to create one first.

Step 2: Click on the menu icon in the top left, then select Events Manager under the Measure and Report section.

Step 3: Click the green plus button to create a new data source, then select Web.

Step 4: Select Facebook Pixel and click Connect.

Step 5: Enter a name for your pixel, like Your Business Name Reviews or RatingFlow Pixel. Click Continue.

Step 6: When asked how you want to set up the pixel, you can close this window. We'll add it to RatingFlow directly using your Pixel ID.

Finding Your Facebook Pixel ID

To get your Pixel ID:

Step 1: In Facebook Events Manager, you'll see a list of your data sources on the left side.

Step 2: Click on your pixel name.

Step 3: Click Settings in the left menu.

Step 4: Your Pixel ID is displayed at the top of the page. It's a long number, typically 15 to 16 digits. Copy this number.

Adding Facebook Pixel to RatingFlow

Now add the Pixel ID to RatingFlow:

Step 1: Log in to your RatingFlow dashboard.

Step 2: Select the business you want to track from the dropdown menu in the sidebar.

Step 3: Click on Integrations in the sidebar menu.

Step 4: Find the Facebook Pixel section. You'll see a field labeled Facebook Pixel ID.

Step 5: Paste your Pixel ID into the field. Enter only the numbers, no other characters.

Step 6: Click Save Changes.

Your Facebook Pixel is now active on your review page.

Verifying the Integration Works

To confirm your pixel is working:

Method 1 - Facebook Pixel Helper: Install the Facebook Pixel Helper browser extension for Chrome. Then visit your review page. The extension icon will turn blue and show a number if the pixel is active. Click the icon to see details.

Method 2 - Events Manager: Visit your review page, then go to Facebook Events Manager. Click on your pixel, then select the Test Events tab. You should see a PageView event appear within a few seconds showing your visit.

If you don't see any activity, double-check that you copied the Pixel ID correctly and saved your changes in RatingFlow.

What Events Are Tracked

RatingFlow automatically tracks these standard Facebook events:

PageView: Triggered when someone visits your review page.

ViewContent: Triggered when the review form fully loads and is ready for input.

Lead: Triggered when a customer submits their review, whether positive or negative.

These events help Facebook understand user behavior and optimize your ad delivery if you're running campaigns.

Using Pixel Data for Advertising

Once your pixel is collecting data, you can use it for Facebook advertising:

Retargeting: Create ads that target people who visited your review page but didn't leave a review. Remind them to share their experience.

Exclusion Audiences: Exclude people who already left a review from seeing review request ads, avoiding redundant messaging.

Lookalike Audiences: After collecting enough data, typically 100 plus conversions, create lookalike audiences to find new customers similar to those who engage with your review page.

Conversion Tracking: Measure the ROI of Facebook ads by seeing how many people who clicked your ad actually visited your review page.

Privacy and Compliance

Facebook Pixel collects data about your visitors for advertising purposes. Important privacy considerations:

The pixel tracks page visits and interactions, not the content of reviews or personal information submitted through custom fields.

If you operate in regions with privacy laws like GDPR or CCPA, you may need to obtain consent before the pixel loads. Consider adding a cookie consent banner to your website.

Update your privacy policy to mention that you use Facebook Pixel for advertising and analytics.

Consult with a legal professional if you're unsure about your compliance requirements.

Removing the Integration

If you want to disconnect Facebook Pixel:

Go to Integrations in your RatingFlow dashboard.

Find the Facebook Pixel ID field.

Delete the Pixel ID from the field.

Click Save Changes.

The pixel will stop tracking immediately. However, data already collected in Facebook remains available for your advertising use.
