Google Business Profile Not Connecting

Last updated: 1/31/2026

If you're having trouble connecting your Google Business Profile to RatingFlow or customers aren't being redirected to Google correctly, this guide will help.

Verifying Your Google Business Profile URL

The most common issue is using an incorrect Google Business Profile URL. Here's how to get the right one:

Step 1: Open Google and search for your business name plus your city. For example, Joe's Coffee Seattle.

Step 2: Your business should appear in the knowledge panel on the right side of the search results.

Step 3: Click on your business name in the knowledge panel to open the full profile.

Step 4: Look at the URL in your browser's address bar. It should look something like: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Your+Business+Name or https://maps.google.com followed by coordinates and your business name.

Step 5: Copy this entire URL and paste it into RatingFlow's Google Business Profile URL field.

Common URL Mistakes

Avoid these common errors:

Using your website URL instead of your Google Business Profile URL. Your website is different from your Google listing.

Using a shortened g.page link. While these work for sharing, RatingFlow needs the full Google Maps URL.

Using the URL from Google Business Profile Manager. The URL should be from the public-facing Google Maps listing, not your admin dashboard.

Including extra parameters or tracking codes. Use the clean URL without UTM parameters or other additions.

Copying only part of the URL. Make sure to copy the complete URL starting with https://

If You Don't Have a Google Business Profile

If your business doesn't appear when you search on Google, you may not have a Google Business Profile yet. You need to create one:

Step 1: Go to business.google.com and sign in with your Google account.

Step 2: Click Add business or Manage now.

Step 3: Follow the steps to create your business profile including business name, category, location, and contact details.

Step 4: Verify your business through the verification process, usually by postcard, phone, or email.

Step 5: Once verified and published, search for your business on Google to get the public URL.

Creating and verifying a Google Business Profile is free and typically takes a few days to a week.

Testing the Redirect

After adding your Google Business Profile URL to RatingFlow, test that it works:

Step 1: Visit your review page using your review link or by scanning your QR code.

Step 2: Select a rating above your threshold, typically 4 or 5 stars.

Step 3: Enter some test feedback in the text field if shown.

Step 4: Click Submit.

Step 5: You should see a thank you message, then after a few seconds be automatically redirected to your Google Business Profile where you can leave a review.

If the redirect doesn't happen or goes to the wrong place, your Google Business Profile URL is incorrect.

Redirect Delay Issues

If the redirect happens but seems too slow or too fast:

Go to your RatingFlow dashboard.

Click on Customize, then the Behavior tab.

Look for the Redirect Delay setting.

Adjust the delay time. The default is typically 3 to 5 seconds, which gives customers time to read the thank you message.

Save your changes and test again.

Multiple Locations Issue

If you have multiple business locations with the same name:

Make sure you're using the URL for the specific location, not a generic search result.

Search for your business name plus the specific address or neighborhood.

Each RatingFlow business seat should connect to a different Google Business Profile location.

Verify you selected the correct location from Google's search results before copying the URL.

Customers Redirected to Wrong Business

If customers are being redirected to a different business or a competitor:

Double-check the Google Business Profile URL in your RatingFlow settings. You may have accidentally pasted the wrong URL.

Manually visit the URL you entered in RatingFlow to see where it goes.

If it's the wrong business, get the correct URL and update it in RatingFlow.

Save changes and test again with a new review submission.

Google Changes Your URL

Google occasionally updates how Business Profile URLs are formatted. If your redirect suddenly stops working:

Search for your business on Google again to get the current URL format.

Copy the new URL and update it in RatingFlow.

Even if the URL looks similar to your old one, Google's internal routing may have changed, so using the freshest URL ensures compatibility.

Mobile vs Desktop Issues

Sometimes redirects work on desktop but not mobile, or vice versa:

Test on both device types to confirm the issue.

Make sure you're using the standard Google Maps URL, not a mobile-specific or app-specific link.

The Google Maps URL should work universally across all devices and automatically adapt to mobile or desktop viewing.

When to Contact Support

Contact RatingFlow support if:

You've verified your Google Business Profile URL is correct but redirects still don't work. You're unable to find your Google Business Profile even though you know it exists. The redirect worked before but suddenly stopped. You're getting error messages during the redirect process. You need help setting up your Google Business Profile.

Include your Google Business Profile URL, a description of what happens when you test the redirect, and screenshots if possible.
