How to Customize Your Welcome Message
The welcome message is the first thing customers see when they visit your review page. Here's how to personalize it to match your business voice.
What is the Welcome Message?
The welcome message appears at the top of your review page, just below your business name and logo. It's a short message that appears before customers see the star rating selector. The default message is 'How was your experience?' but you can change this to anything you want.
How to Change the Welcome Message
Step 1: Go to the Customize section from your sidebar.
Step 2: Click on the 'Appearance' tab.
Step 3: Scroll down to the 'Welcome Message' section. You'll see a text field containing the current welcome message.
Step 4: Click in the text field and type your new message. You can see it update in real-time in the Live Preview on the right side of the screen.
Step 5: Click 'Save Changes' at the top right when you're finished.
Welcome Message Tips and Examples
Keep it short and friendly. A good welcome message is usually just one sentence or question. Here are some examples:
For restaurants: 'How was your dining experience?' or 'Did you enjoy your meal?'
For healthcare: 'How was your appointment with us?' or 'Please rate your visit today'
For retail stores: 'How was your shopping experience?' or 'Did we meet your expectations?'
For salons/spas: 'How did we do today?' or 'Are you happy with your service?'
For service businesses: 'How would you rate our service?' or 'Were you satisfied with our work?'
Best Practices
Be conversational: Use natural language that sounds like how you'd actually speak to a customer in person.
Ask a question: Messages that end with a question mark tend to get more engagement because they prompt a response.
Match your brand voice: If your business is formal and professional, keep the message professional. If you're casual and fun, let that personality shine through.
Keep it brief: The message appears just before your business name. You don't need to explain the entire process - just a simple, welcoming question works best.
Avoid being pushy: Don't beg for 5-star reviews or tell customers what to rate you. Simply ask about their experience and let them respond honestly.
Note About Business Name
You'll notice a note under the welcome message field that says 'This message appears before your business name.' This means customers will see your message, followed by your business name. For example, if your message is 'How was your experience?' and your business is 'Joe's Coffee Shop,' customers will see: 'How was your experience? Joe's Coffee Shop.' Keep this in mind when writing your message so it flows naturally.
